What does it involve?

On the day you join:

WHEN YOU GIVE BLOOD:

Part of your routine  donation (up to 14ml) is collected for research purposes .

WHEN YOU ARE AT HOME:

You will be asked to complete an online questionnaire regarding your health and lifestyle.

RESEARCH SAMPLES:

Blood samples are sent to the laboratory for storage, to count different types of blood cells,and to extract DNA, plasma and serum.

In the future:

GENES AND BIOMARKERS:

DNA is analysed to obtain genetic information. Biomarkers are measured in your blood.

RESEARCH DATABASE:

Contains anonymous questionnaire data, genetic/biomarker results and relevant health    records.

IN THE FUTURE:

You may be contacted  to participate in another study run by the BioResource – up to 4 invites per year.
